Services for special occcasions throughout the year

Advent Sundays

Four Sundays leading up to Christmas. Lighting of candles on the Advent Ring at the 11.00am Communion Service.

Christingle

4.00pm on the 4th Sunday in Advent. A celebration of Christmas with the lighting of Christingles, Carol singing and a collection for the Children's society.

Christmas Eve

An early evening service with nativity play performed by the Sunday School Children, as well as Carol singing.

At 11.30pm there is a Midnight Communion Service, which alternates between All Saints, Batley and St Andrews, Purlwell.

Christmas Day

There are services with Holy Communion, Common Worship, Carols and Hymns at both 8.00am and 11.00am.

Epiphany

This is celebrated on the nearest Sunday.

Ash Wednesday

At 9.45am there is a service with Holy Communion and Common Worship.

Lent

During the period of Lent there is a course of Bible Study. Our House Groups also follow Lenten topics during this time.

Holy Week

From Monday to Wednesday, at 7.30pm - Compline with address.

Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm - Combined service at St Andrews, Purlwell. Holy Communion, Common Worship & stripping of the altar.

Good Friday at 11.00am - Walk of Witness, joining members of Churches Together in Batley to witness Christ's crucifixion.

Good Friday at 1.00pm - Hymns and lessons for Good Friday.

Easter Sunday at 8.00am & 11.00am - Holy Communion, Common Worship and hymns.

Easter Sunday at 6.00pm - Evensong, Common Worship and hymns.

Ascension Day

On Ascension Day there is an early morning service of hymns and Bible readings on the top of the Church Tower to mark Christ's Ascension. This is followed by breakfast in the vestry.

Pentecost

Sunday services at the usual times celebrating the coming of the Holy Spirit upon Christ's Disciples.

Harvest Festival

This takes place on the fourth Sunday in September at 11.00 am, with Holy Communion and celebration of Thanksgiving for the harvest.

Patronal Festival

Celebrated on the nearest Sunday to the 1st November.

8.00amSaid Holy Communion, Common Worship.

11.00amHoly Communion, Common Worship, hymns and sermon.

6.00pm Choral Evensong, Common Worship , with invited speaker. Members of Daughter Churches are invited and refreshments are available after the service.
